My Festival Haircare Tips

If you’re heading to a festival, you probably know the drill – it will undoubtedly be several days without a proper shower, and certainly without a proper beauty routine!

My top tips are to pack a fantastic dry shampoo, and to choose a hairstyle that’s low-maintenance but will keep your hair looking fresh and fabulous for as long as possible.

Wash your hair on the morning of the festival – this will be the last shampoo it sees for a few days, so it’s a good opportunity to get the hair as clean as possible. I’d also recommend using a nourishing mask like Gorgeous London’s Ten in One Hair Mask, to deeply condition and hydrate the hair prior to the festival. Make sure you keep plenty in the tub for when you return – your hair will need it!

Once the hair is clean and dry, I’d recommend styling it in a way that keeps it off the face and out of your way, to try and keep it fresh for as long as possible. Hair that’s hanging down and getting whipped around will get greasy far quicker. If your hair is long enough, I’d opt for either tight French plaits, which have that seriously cool, street-style look about them, or for something more bohemian, try a cute halo braid or milkmaid braids.

For your hair care essentials, a must-have is a great dry shampoo. Personally, I prefer powdered dry shampoos as they don’t leave any residue. One that I really love is Aster & Bay’s Dry Shampoo, which comes in a handy cardboard canister. This is an all-natural dry shampoo which contains only healthy-hair ingredients – unlike aerosol dry shampoos which can clog up the hair follicles and cause all kinds of problems. This powdered version is guaranteed to leave your hair looking fresh throughout the festival.
